Do I need a prescription to purchase my pets medication?

Yes we recommend you obtain a prescription from your Australian registered vet prior to placing your order to avoid cancellation fees, in order for Pet Guardians to dispense any pet prescription medication (not flea and tick treatment which other sites refer to as medication).

Can a Veterinary Surgeon refuse to provide a script to buy medication elsewhere?


How many repeats can I have on a prescription?

There is no limit. The Australian Veterinary Association advises the following.

The amount of medication that a Veterinary Surgeon is prescribing/dispensing is reasonable for treatment of the condition for which they have documented the therapeutic need for your pet.

A prescription is valid for 12 months from the date noted on the script, unless your vet advises otherwise, or the noted quantity on the prescription has already been filled.

Do I need a new prescription each time I order my pets medication?

Yes, only if your vet has not noted a number of repeats on the prescription that you are using for your order.

Most vets will include a section on their prescriptions that specifies a total number of repeats (e.g. Rpts: 4 or 0) or they may write a total number of tablets/capsules (e.g. 450 tablets) that you are able to obtain using a particular script.

What if I have ordered prescription medication and I do not have or can’t get a script?

It is highly recommended you obtain a prescription from your vet prior to purchasing prescription medication at Pet Guardians to avoid any cancellation fees, as you have to tick a box to confirm that you have a script prior to adding the item to your cart and processing the payment of your order.

How do I send my prescription to Pet Guardians?

In order for us to begin processing your prescription medication please either upload at the time of purchase on the Pet Guardians website or scan and email to angels@petguardians.com.au or SMS to 0468 438 433. We do require the original in the post; please post to Pet Guardians PO BOX 421 ROBINA QLD 4226.

There are no pictures of prescription medication products on your site, how do I know I am getting the same thing as I would from my vet?

Due to the regulations that govern animal prescription medication, we are unable to display images of the prescription medication on our site. However all our prescription medication is Registered and Approved for use in Australia and obtained from Australian Suppliers that your local vet might use.

My pet no longer needs the prescription medication I have recently purchased, can I return it?

Legally we cannot resell medications once they have left our premises, as such we cannot offer refunds for any unused or incorrect purchases of prescription medication. Please take care when ordering your pet’s prescription medication and the quantities you require.

What if I purchase a product and Pet Guardians does not have it in stock?

We will refund your order in full if the item does not become available within a suitable time frame for you.

Can I track the delivery of my order?

Yes you most certainly can. Once your order has been despatched Pet Guardians will send you an email to advise your order has been despatched which will contain the tracking number for your parcel/s

How long will my order take?

All prescription medication orders under 500gms are EXPRESS POSTED at no extra charge. If you live in an EXPRESS POST postcode your parcel should arrive to you the next day, for all other postcodes delivery time is usually halved.
